About The Position

Canadian Linen & Uniform Service Company is looking for a Plant Maintenance Mechanic to join our team as a full-time employee. This role involves assisting outside contractors on major repairs, performing troubleshooting and maintenance on equipment, and operating various power tools and machinery. A key responsibility includes operating and maintaining the facility's high-pressure steam boiler system in accordance with regulations and safety standards.

Requirements

  • 4th Class Power Engineer certification required. This certification is required to legally and safely operate the facility's high-pressure steam boiler system (750 kW capacity).
  • 2+ years of experience in similar positions in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting outside contractors on major repairs of systems and complex machinery.
  • Perform simple troubleshooting of equipment and carries out all maintenance activities.
  • Operate power tools and machine shop machinery (saws, drills, welders).
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing routine preventive and corrective maintenance requirements on electrical motors, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, hydraulic systems and production machines.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • On problems with higher complexity, consult with supervisor and/or peer mechanics to obtain guidance and instructions for resolving issues.
  • Dismantle machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs; reassemble and test equipment following repair.
  • Operate, monitor, inspect, and maintain the facility's high-pressure steam boiler system (750 kW capacity) in accordance with applicable regulations, safety standards, and operating procedures.
  • Perform daily boiler checks, record operating parameters, respond to system alarms, and ensure the safe and efficient operation of steam generation equipment.
  • Identify and report boiler and steam system deficiencies, perform routine maintenance activities, and coordinate with qualified contractors on major repairs and inspections as required.
