About The Position

ACCEL Schools is hiring a 4th/5th Grade ELA Teacher at Cleveland Arts & Social Sciences Academy (CASSA) in Cleveland, Ohio. The role focuses on delivering a superior education, bringing curriculum to life, and creating a positive classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. CASSA is a public charter school serving the Buckeye-Shaker community and nearby neighborhoods. It offers a hands-on college-preparatory curriculum emphasizing the arts and humanities, small-group learning, educational technology, and specialty classes. The K–8 school is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving students throughout the United States. The teacher prepares and delivers lessons, differentiates instruction, tracks student progress, manages classroom behavior, uses approved curricula and research-based practices, and communicates with families and colleagues. The role also involves incorporating technology, supporting school-wide culture expectations, and participating in non-instructional activities as needed.

Requirements

Active and current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to properly manage confidential information.
Ability to supervise students of various ages in settings such as playgrounds and cafeterias.
Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
Experience working within an urban environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
Manage student behavior in the classroom.
Create a positive classroom environment for student learning.
Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
Communicate and meet with families regarding students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities as needed.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
