About The Position

Interact with Crew Supervisors, Module Team Leaders, Reactive Maintenance, and Manufacturing Associates to assess requirements, develop plans, and provide needed materials, minor machine adjustments, minor maintenance, supplying consumables, performing set-ups, change-overs and providing training to all area associates. The Utility Specialist is responsible for installing, setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining automated production lines. This role supports high-volume manufacturing using CNC machining systems, robotic automation, and specialized equipment including FANUC robots, Alfing machining systems, SW, and Stama machines. Provide direction for the purpose of assisting employees to safely operate equipment and to make product that meets the Customer’s expectations at levels of quality and productivity that meets or exceeds the established plan.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3–5+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing or machining environments
  • Hands-on experience with FANUC robot programming and troubleshooting
  • Hands-on experience with Alfing machining systems
  • Hands-on experience with SW equipment
  • Hands-on experience with Stama CNC / multi-spindle machines
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining, tooling, and automation systems

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Design Engineering or Manufacturing
  • Technical certification (for MACHINE LINE experience)

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Team Leader to coordinate and provide directions to manufacturing associates on how to do their assign task(s). This includes hands on training
  • Ensure that the assigned area(s) equipment is operating properly and safely throughout the shift
  • Assist Team Leader in achieving daily quality, production, scrap goals
  • Assist the Team Leader in assigning and rotating Manufacturing Associates to the appropriate operation and provide relief to employees as required
  • Set up, adjust, and optimize automated production lines for automotive components
  • Program, teach, and troubleshoot FANUC robotics systems (material handling, loading/unloading, etc.)
  • Perform setup and changeovers on Alfing machining equipment
  • Operate and maintain SW and Stama multi-spindle / CNC machining centers
  • Interpret blueprints, process sheets, and tooling specifications
  • Install and align tooling, fixtures, and work holding devices
  • Conduct first-piece validation and ensure parts meet quality standards
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automation issues to minimize downtime
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines and robotic systems
  • Work with engineering and maintenance teams to improve cycle time and efficiency
  • Document setup procedures, issues, and corrective actions
  • Frequently review the Quality of products following each process and provide feedback to Manufacturing Team Members and making corrections where necessary
  • Assist Team Leader with reducing scrap, improving quality, and machine efficiencies
  • Verify that documented procedures and instructions are being followed: Standard Operating Procedures, Rework Instructions, Work Instructions, Preventive Maintenance Instructions, Inspection Instructions, Reaction Plans, Process Set-up Instructions, Housekeeping, End of Shift Clean-up
  • Perform changeovers/setups, minor adjustments and maintenance at required operations per the Supervisors and Team Leaders direction
  • Prepare tools or tooling if applicable
