About The Position

This role is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing activities to ensure production schedules and customer commitments are met. The supervisor will monitor production performance, address issues impacting safety, quality, delivery, or productivity, and optimize staffing and labor utilization. They will also ensure equipment operates effectively by coordinating with Maintenance and Engineering, and support production scale-up and new technology implementation. Additionally, the role involves promoting a "Quality First" culture, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards, supporting CAPA and continuous improvement, and driving reductions in scrap, rework, and process variation. Leadership responsibilities include supervising, coaching, mentoring, and developing production employees, conducting performance evaluations, managing attendance and scheduling, and fostering teamwork. The position also requires cross-functional collaboration with various departments such as Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance, Planning and Scheduling, Supply Chain, Facilities, and EHS, and supporting new product introductions.

Requirements

Associate’s degree or equivalent manufacturing experience.
2–5 years of manufacturing supervisory / management experience.
Experience supervising hourly employees in a production environment.
All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.

Responsibilities

Direct and coordinate daily manufacturing activities to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
Monitor production performance and address issues impacting safety, quality, delivery, or productivity.
Optimize staffing and labor utilization to maximize operational efficiency.
Ensure equipment is operating effectively and coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering to minimize downtime.
Support production scale-up activities and implementation of new manufacturing technologies.
Promote a “Quality First” culture throughout the operation.
Ensure compliance with manufacturing specifications, work instructions, and quality standards.
Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and continuous quality improvements.
Drive reduction of scrap, rework, and process variation.
Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop production employees.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
Support employee engagement and recognition initiatives.
Manage attendance, scheduling, overtime, and staffing requirements.
Foster teamwork and effective communication across all shifts and departments.
Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Quality Assurance, Planning and Scheduling, Supply Chain, Facilities, and EHS.
Support new product introductions and manufacturing qualification activities.
Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture with zero injuries as the goal.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company EHS policies and procedures.
Conduct regular safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations.
Ensure employees receive required training and maintain compliance with all operating procedures.
