About The Position

Grede is seeking an experienced CNC manufacturing professional to oversee the day-to-day operation of an assigned production cell on 3rd shift. This is a hands-on position where the ideal candidate will leverage strong CNC machining experience, knowledge of robotics and automation, and the ability to troubleshoot issues to ensure smooth production flow. The role involves coordinating the work of a small team within the cell, operating CNC equipment, monitoring machines and automation, assisting with setups and adjustments, and troubleshooting various production-related issues. The Cell Lead will also be responsible for training operators, reading blueprints, using precision measuring equipment, monitoring part quality, and ensuring material and tooling availability. Maintaining a safe and organized work area, communicating effectively with supervisors, and supporting production goals while upholding safety and quality standards are key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • CNC machining experience-REQUIRED
  • Robotics/automation experience-REQUIRED
  • Previous manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with CNC setups, tooling, offsets, fixtures, and machine adjustments.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand dimensional tolerances.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment.
  • Working knowledge of SPC and quality requirements.
  • Ability to train, assist, and provide direction to other operators when needed.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Dependable with a good attendance record.
  • Comfortable working independently on 3rd shift.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical education in machining or manufacturing is preferred
  • 2–3 years of related CNC machining experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of an assigned CNC production cell.
  • Help coordinate the work activities of a small number of employees within the cell.
  • Operate CNC equipment as needed to support production.
  • Monitor CNC machines, robotics, and automated equipment to keep the cell running efficiently.
  • Assist with machine setups, tool changes, offsets, fixtures, and adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, robotic, quality, and production issues.
  • Help train and support new and existing operators on equipment, processes, and inspection requirements.
  • Read and work from blueprints, drawings, specifications, programs, and setup instructions.
  • Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and height/depth indicators.
  • Monitor part quality and make adjustments within established parameters when necessary.
  • Recognize and communicate equipment, tooling, quality, or production concerns.
  • Help ensure materials and tooling are available to minimize downtime.
  • Support production goals while maintaining safety and quality expectations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Communicate important information and unresolved issues to the Shift Lead or Supervisor.
