About The Position
ACCEL Schools is hiring a 3rd Grade Teacher at STEAM Academy of Warrensville Heights in Cleveland, Ohio. The role focuses on delivering a superior education, bringing curriculum to life, and creating a positive classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. STEAM Academy of Warrensville Heights is an award-winning public charter school serving students in EK–8th grade. Founded in 2015, the school emphasizes Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math and is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving students across the United States. The teacher prepares and delivers lessons, differentiates instruction, monitors student progress, manages classroom behavior, and communicates with families. The teacher also collaborates with colleagues and participates in planning and implementing non-instructional activities as needed.
Requirements
- Active, current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to properly manage confidential information.
- Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings, including playgrounds and cafeterias.
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
- Experience working within an urban environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
- Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom.
- Create a positive classroom environment for student learning.
- Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
- Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
- Communicate and meet with families regarding students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
- Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
- Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities as needed.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
