About The Position

Alpha Baking Company is hiring a 3rd Class Mechanic to maintain and repair bakery equipment and help ensure machinery operates efficiently. The role involves diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems, using hand tools and diagnostic and precision instruments, and applying welding and basic fabrication skills. The mechanic is expected to work independently and follow company safety procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment.

The position requires flexibility to work the 2nd shift, weekends, and overtime. Compensation is $28.17 per hour during the probationary period and $31.30 per hour after successful completion of the 90-day probationary period, per the CBA. Night-shift work between 6 PM and 6 AM receives an additional $1.50 per hour. The position becomes a union role after successful completion of probation.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
• Intermediate knowledge of bakery equipment maintenance.
• Proficiency in mechanical and electrical maintenance practices, including welding and basic fabrication.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
• Familiarity with hand tools, diagnostic instruments, and precision instruments.
• Ability to work independently, with strong problem-solving skills and initiative.
• Willingness to work the 2nd shift, weekends, and overtime.
• Adherence to company safety policies and procedures.
