About The Position

Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Fine Arts is searching for a 3D Lab Assistant Manager to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. Your core responsibilities will include: Deliver training programs and programmatic activities in the areas of machining, woodworking, and fabrication tools and equipment. Monitor student shop open hours to ensure safe operation of equipment, to provide additional skills instruction, and to advise on component design and construction. Work flexible hours including (as required) evenings and weekends to provide coverage for student shops. Help students fabricate their own apparatus for course and extracurricular projects. Provide design and prototyping advice to students, faculty, and staff engaged in academic, club, entrepreneurial, and extracurricular design-build projects. Fabricate parts, assemblies, and experimental equipment to support campus research activities. Contribute to the management, maintenance, and operation of both student and professional shops to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. Multitask duties when several necessary simultaneously. Have a passion to work closely with a diverse student body; and Working with students, faculty, and staff in outreach activities. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • 1-3 Years of Relevant Work Experience
  • Successful background check
  • Training: OSHA - Hazardous Materials Safety Training
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
