About The Position

The Pharmacy Expansion and 340B Program Compliance Coordinator is responsible for overall 340B Program Coordination for Firelands Regional Health System (FRHS) and all associated entities including (but not limited to) child sites and contract pharmacies, policy and procedure development, vendor and contract management (as it relates to 340B), compliance through internal self-audits and external 3rd party audits, oversight and maintenance of split-billing software, staff education and training, and oversight of inventory practices related to 340B. Works with the Director of Pharmacy to explore, develop plans, manage and oversee projects that strategically expand Pharmacy Services, reduce unnecessary expense and improve overall health system margin. Serves as primary internal and external program coordinator and liaison for all 340B-related matters. Serves as the institutional “compliance expert or authority” on 340B regarding program details, policies, and procedures of the virtual inventory processes required for mixed-use areas. Serves as primary internal liaison to key stakeholders to help ensure appropriate utilization of the 340B program and compliance with all program requirements. Ensures that policies and procedures are developed and implemented according to organizational, national, state, and federal requirements and guidelines and are approved by the institution’s legal department. Assists organizational leadership to develop a regular compliance audit program. Reviews and negotiates any new 340B contracts. Maintains all 340B contracts. Manages relationships, billing services, and compliance with contracted 340B pharmacies. Evaluates all current and future contract pharmacy opportunities, including contract language, fee structure, data setup, and internal and independent external auditing. Provides ongoing training, education, and communication required for the 340B program at the organization. Manages FRHS education, training, awareness, and customer service for all 340B covered entities. Acts as a preceptor to pharmacy students, residents, and others in training. Develops training and competency materials for all staff and leaders who work with the 340B program.

Requirements

  • Previous experience with the 340B Program and a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or a business-related degree.
  • Will obtain 340B ACE Certification within 2 years of employment in this position
  • Cost of exam will be paid for by FHS upon successful completion (unsuccessful attempts & studying material will not be reimbursed)
  • Strong background in pharmacy operations, reimbursement, and payment integrity, ideally within a hospital or health system environment
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing pharmacy claims and financial data to identify risk, opportunity, and root cause
  • Advanced understanding of payer methodologies, pharmacy billing workflows, and revenue cycle integration
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and influence outcomes across departments
  • High level of comfort presenting findings and recommendations to leadership
  • Familiarity with pharmacy systems and claims platforms (e.g. Pioneer, Meditech)
  • Knowledge of Medical Center pharmacy operations including common practices and policies and procedures.
  • Excellent personal computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Successful completion of a 180-day probationary period.
