About The Position

This 310T Licensed Mechanic/Technician (T4) performs major and technically difficult diagnostics, repairs, and overhauls/rebuilds in a timely manner, ensuring quality, time standards, customer expectations, cost guidelines, and reliability goals are met. The T4 technician works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and mentors other Ryder technicians regularly. This role provides the highest level of experience and expertise in vehicle diagnostics and repair, playing a key role in the leadership, development, and training of other grade technicians. The T4 technician may specialize in areas such as refrigeration, electronics, or exhaust systems, and should possess extensive vehicle transportation experience, ASE certifications, and/or multiple Ryder Qualifications.

  • Available for on call duty and work shift work/weekend

  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including: - Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work - Diagnostics and repairs, including AC, electrical systems, - Advanced skilled level repairs to include some major engine repairs, diesel after treatment or automotive fuel injection repairs required
  • All other certification as required by location, required

Nice To Haves

  • H.S. diploma/GED preferred
  • Vocational or Technical Certification preferred
  • Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties upon Tire and Wheel, Brakes-Air, Brakes-Hydraulic, A/C, Heater & Refrigeration, Cargo Handling/Transfer, Liftgates, Cranking System: (Electrical), Lighting System, Electrical Accessories, Clutch, Cooling Systems, Drive Axles, Drive Line, Diesel and Gas Engines - All Engines, Fuel Systems, Steering and Non-Driven Axles, Suspension-Chassis And Cab, Vehicle Coupling System (PM) etc.
  • Coaches/mentors other level technicians
  • Advise shop management and other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics.
  • Performs facility maintenance duties.
  • Utilizes key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available.
  • Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, dot, mot)
  • Other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to service island support.
