About The Position

This role involves operating a cabler machine to strand conductors and form cable cores. The operator will apply fillers, bind the core with binders, and set up the cabler by changing lay gears, loading/unloading, and changing dies as per instructions. Accurate execution of SAP/ERP transactions for material consumption and process flow is crucial. The position requires filling out reports, monitoring quality, and ensuring efficient changeovers through teamwork. Products must be accurately tagged, and scrap must be minimized. Maintaining a safe and clean working environment through proper housekeeping is essential. The role demands precision in measuring and maintaining core or unit O.D.’s within tight tolerances (to 1/10,000 inch). This job description covers significant duties but may include other occasional assignments consistent with the job's responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Color perception required.
  • Good physical condition.
  • Ability to handle extreme physical strength limits when rolling and controlling finished reels, changing gears, etc. (approx. 75 lbs.).
  • Ability to handle intermittent heavy and lighter work requirements.
  • A degree of dexterity required, particularly in threading die plates and changing reels.
  • Precision required in measuring, monitoring, and maintaining core or unit O.D.’s.
  • Ability to read and work simple math problems.
  • Ability to work with barcode guns and computers.
  • A degree of organization required.

Responsibilities

  • Operates cabler to strand conductors, forming cable cores.
  • Applies fillers at interstices and binds core with binders.
  • Sets up cabler, changes lay gears (if applicable), loads and unloads, and changes dies as necessary, according to process operating instructions.
  • Ensures correct SAP/ERP transactions are executed for accurate material consumption and smooth process flow.
  • Fills out required reports and monitors quality throughout the process.
  • Works in a team to efficiently change over the cabler.
  • Properly tags all products with accurate data.
  • Effectively uses all products while minimizing scrap.
  • Maintains proper housekeeping to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Performs precise measuring, monitoring, and maintaining of core or unit O.D.’s within tolerances to 1/10,000 inch.
