About The Position
The K–5 Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering a comprehensive physical education program that promotes physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles for elementary students. The teacher creates a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment aligned with Arkansas state standards.
Requirements
- Holds valid Arkansas teaching license in K-12 Physical Education.
- Strong classroom and behavior management skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate young learners.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organizational and planning abilities.
- Commitment to student health, safety, and inclusion.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate physical education lessons aligned with Arkansas Department of Education standards.
- Teach fundamental motor skills, movement patterns, sportsmanship, and cooperative play.
- Promote physical fitness, health awareness, and lifelong wellness habits.
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of performance and participation.
- Adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of all students.
- Ensure a safe environment by enforcing rules, proper use of equipment, and injury prevention practices.
- Organize and supervise games, activities, and special events (e.g., field day).
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support student development.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel.
- Maintain gym equipment and inventory.
