About The Position

Supervises and coordinates activities of paint line, assembly, and welding workers; applies in-depth knowledge of processes involved and production methods utilized to produce quality compliant end products. This role is responsible for accomplishing manufacturing results by communicating job expectations to direct reports, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results, and coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. The supervisor will maintain optimum staff levels through timely selection and training, and retain talent by identifying developmental opportunities and fostering cooperation. They will also maintain workflow by monitoring production steps, assigning personnel and resources efficiently, seeking cost reductions, and facilitating corrections to equipment malfunctions. The supervisor completes the production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules as needed, resolving problems, and reporting on shift production summaries. Additionally, they maintain quality service, ensure equipment operation by alerting maintenance for repairs, participate in evaluating new equipment, maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and training direct reports on equipment and materials, and maintain compliance with company and OSHA safety policies. They also maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and provide manufacturing information to management by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, of a metal fabrication job shop.
  • Ability to anticipate and determine the causes of delay in shift operations and take appropriate action to meet shipping deadlines.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives.
  • Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems.
  • Apply excellent judgement and have the ability to make decisions.
  • Motivate, empower, and build trust with team members.
  • Has proficient knowledge of assembly and machine processes.
  • Basic knowledge of computer programs, i.e., word, excel, Microsoft Office.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of assembly/machinist experience
  • Minimum 2 years supervisor experience
