Weld & Grind Supervisor Job Purpose Are you a hands-on leader who enjoys developing people, solving problems, and driving results? As our Weld & Grind Supervisor, you will lead a team of skilled manufacturing teammates while partnering closely with supervisors across multiple shifts to ensure a safe, productive, and quality-focused operation. This role is responsible for creating an environment where safety comes first, people are developed, quality is non-negotiable, and continuous improvement is part of the daily routine. You'll play a key role in helping the team meet customer expectations while building a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2–5 years of welding and/or grinding experience.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications, blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience developing Standard Work and leading process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Leadership: Champion a culture where safety is the top priority every day. Train, coach, and hold teammates accountable to all safety policies and procedures. Serve as an active member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and/or Safety Committee. Develop, implement, and continuously improve Standard Work related to safe work practices. Identify and address potential safety concerns before they become incidents.
  • People Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop a team of welders and grinders to reach their full potential. Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment. Train and reinforce company policies, procedures, and expectations. Motivate teammates to achieve departmental goals while supporting engagement and teamwork. Analyze and resolve workflow challenges, removing barriers that impact performance. Serve as the primary trainer for the Level 4 Board process. Develop and implement Standard Work that drives consistency and efficiency.
  • Quality Excellence: Ensure products consistently meet customer and company quality standards. Train and coach teammates on quality requirements and best practices. Verify product conformance to specifications and direct machine setup adjustments as needed. Develop and maintain Standard Work that supports first-time quality and continuous improvement.
  • Responsiveness & Execution: Coordinate departmental activities to meet production schedules and customer commitments. Estimate, requisition, and verify required materials and resources. Partner with supervisors and support teams across shifts to ensure smooth operations and communication. Proactively address production issues and adjust priorities as needed to maintain schedule adherence.
  • Continuous Improvement & Cost Management: Drive efficient use of labor, materials, and equipment. Train and enforce established work procedures and production methods. Develop and implement Standard Work that improves productivity and reduces waste. Lead departmental Continuous Improvement meetings and encourage team participation in problem-solving and process improvement initiatives.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Support production operations by performing work alongside team members when needed. Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
