POSITION SUMMARY: The Second Man is responsible overseeing and assisting in the installation of roofs and repairing existing roofs for properties. As the second lead on the roof, they will also help ensure roofs are installed and repaired safely and guide our laborers as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or certification in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter, etc.)
• 2 years of experience working on commercial roofing required
• Physical fitness level that will allow for quick movement, climbing, bending, and lifting heavy loads
• Previous experience in roofing, construction, or related scope of work
• General knowledge of roofing procedures, techniques, and specialties
• Strong work ethic and desire to perform quality work
• Ability to read and follow instructions from blueprints, drawings, and diagrams
• Endurance to spend hours working in extreme weather conditions such as heat or cold

Responsibilities

• Lay new roofing materials such as asphalt, wood, steel, and plastics
• Inspect work of roofers and perform any needed repairs
• Spray treatment chemicals on roofs and buildings to seal them from water and weather
• Clean rooftops by removing leaves, ice, and other debris
• Install insulation materials underneath roofs
• Use hand tools such as hammers, electric staplers, and electric spraying tools
• Performs other work-duties as assigned
