Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university or equivalent
  • Appropriate State of Ohio teaching certifications/license
  • Meet the applicable requirements of a “highly qualified” teacher defined by ODEW.
  • Embrace high-performance standards (e.g., engagement, proficiency, resilience, etc.)
  • Maintain a record free of criminal violations that prohibit public school employment
  • Active Listening, Collaboration with stakeholders, creative problem solving, and good time management skills
  • PK teacher requires dual licensure for Special Education requirements: Intervention Specialist & PK-3.

  • Following and/or preparing a daily time schedule within minimum levels of instruction.

  • Providing timely feedback.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and wearing work attire appropriate for the position.
  • Sustaining an acceptable attendance record and consistently complying with established work schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize educational experiences for pupils, aligning teaching strategies with learning styles and assembling resources based on student needs.
  • Direct learning activities toward the fulfillment of curriculum goals and communicate these goals and procedures to students.
  • Develop lesson plans consistent with learning standards and district curriculum goals, ensuring materials are available for substitute teachers.
  • Employ varied teaching and evaluation styles to facilitate student understanding and develop critical thinking skills.
  • Provide assistance to all pupils in their studies and demonstrate a competent knowledge of subject matter.
  • Develop methods and incorporate available materials and equipment for the level of student being taught.
  • Ensure all assigned classroom time is utilized toward the fulfillment of academic goals.
  • Provide a highly structured learning environment and leadership for best practices and academic standards.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress and provide timely feedback.
  • Develop mutually respectful relationships with colleagues and function as part of a cohesive team.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and an acceptable attendance record.
  • Maintain open and effective communications, fostering goodwill and encouraging relationships that enhance public support for the district.
