About The Position

The 2nd Cook is responsible for assisting the 1st Cook in preparing all meals and ensuring the kitchen, dining, and living areas are always clean and sanitary. This is a temporary position from September 22 to October 11, 2026. The role involves working in remote camp environments with scheduled shifts, long hours (10-12 hour shifts), and requires adherence to health and safety protocols in a drug and alcohol-free workplace.

Requirements

3-5 years of experience as a 2nd Cook preferably in a remote camp environment
Great communication. Speak, read and write English
Team player that can provide support, motivation, and encouragement to others
Excellent attention to detail and well-developed organizational skills
Strong work ethic with an ability to work independently and in a team environment
Always maintain a professional appearance
Work safely and responsibly
Ability to follow directions, be diligent, focused, and consistent
Comfort with kitchen equipment and knife skills are required

Drug and Alcohol Clearance

Valid Government Issued ID for travel if required

Responsibilities

All food preparation such as breakfast, lunch, sandwiches, snacks, hot dinner meals, salads, soups etc...
Set up salad bar, make traditional salads from scratch including dressings
Set up of breakfast line, lunch station, and dining room; monitor accompaniments and restock as required
Clean up after all meal service, including wiping tables, and counters and washing pots, pans, dishes, and cutlery
Sweep and mop floors, wipe tables and counters, break down cardboard; boxes, maintain kitchen appliances, clean vents and exhaust areas
Assist with preparation and disassembly for moving and relocation
Report to 1st Cook all food and equipment-related concerns and issues
Assist 1st Cook with administration, ordering and inventory counts
Learn the 1st Cook role so can assist when necessary
Adhere to all safety practices, procedures and guidelines
