GOLF - 2ND ASST GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT
About The Position
The 2nd Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and the 1st Assistant Superintendent, gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of golf course maintenance, including irrigation management, fertility programs, pesticide applications, and crew leadership. The role provides a clear pathway for advancement with responsibilities that prepare individuals for future leadership roles in golf course management. Requirements
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, fertility/pesticide applications, and golf course operations.
- Florida pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain one within 90 days)
- Valid driver's license.
- Understanding of golf and etiquette
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Committed to continuous learning, professional development, and career advancement.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of golf course maintenance experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily planning, scheduling, and execution of golf course maintenance operations.
- Help supervise, train, and motivate maintenance staff to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to established standards.
- Assist with mowing, irrigation, fertilization, chemical applications, and general turf and landscape maintenance.
- Monitor turfgrass health and identify issues involving pests, diseases, irrigation, nutrition, and environmental conditions.
- Assist with the implementation of agronomic programs and seasonal maintenance practices.
- Participate in fertilizer and pesticide applications, including calibration, mixing, application, and recordkeeping.
- Operate and maintain turf maintenance equipment and assist with equipment troubleshooting and upkeep.
- Help manage irrigation systems, including monitoring, repairs, and adjustments.
- Maintain accurate records of chemical applications, fertilizer applications, irrigation practices, labor, and other maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures and environmental regulations.
- Communicate effectively with the Golf Course Superintendent, 1st Assistant Superintendent, management, and other departments.
- Software management of newly implemented technologies.
- Assist with special projects, tournaments, course setup, and other duties as needed.
- Promote a safe work environment and ensure adherence to club policies and procedures.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of turfgrass management practices and equipment operation.
