About The Position

Bardel Entertainment is producing a new 2D animated series for a preschool audience this fall. This series combines engaging storytelling, memorable characters, and original music. The company is expanding its animation team to bring this world to life through expressive, high-quality storyboards. The role requires a Storyboard Artist with experience in 2D animation production to create expressive, engaging storyboards for a preschool audience. Working from scripts and creative direction, the artist will translate story beats into clear visual sequences through strong composition, character acting, appealing poses, and thoughtful pacing. Collaboration with Directors and Supervisors is key to shaping the storytelling and delivering high-quality boards that support the creative vision of the series.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Storyboard Artist, Storyboard Revisionist, or similar role on a 2D animated series, feature, or production pipeline.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to promote solutions, share knowledge, and incorporate feedback.
  • Portfolio demonstrating a mix of 2D animation storyboard samples, ideally including action, comedy, and dialogue-driven scenes created in Storyboard Pro or a comparable digital boarding workflow.
  • Portfolio demonstrating clear visual storytelling with readable staging, strong compositions, intentional pacing, and smooth panel-to-panel transitions.
  • Portfolio demonstrating expressive 2D character acting with readable silhouettes, clear poses, appealing expressions, and consistency with the production’s design language.
  • Portfolio demonstrating ability to adjust boarding style for different scene types, such as slapstick or pantomime comedy, dialogue-driven comedic timing, character-based action, chase scenes, or emotional story beats.

Responsibilities

  • Create clear, engaging 2D animation storyboards from scripts, translating story beats into strong poses, staging, camera choices, and panel-to-panel continuity.
  • Interpret and adjust work based on notes from leads, supervisors, and directors.
  • Board scenes across a range of 2D animation needs, including dialogue-driven character acting, comedy timing, action staging, and simpler continuity sequences.
  • Adapt boarding approach to the production’s specific style, whether the scene calls for broad physical comedy, subtle dialogue performance, dynamic action, or clear emotional storytelling.
  • Engage in dailies, rounds, and team discussions to contribute to creative and technical improvements.
  • Adhere to pipeline workflows and technical requirements for seamless integration into the production process.
  • Maintain consistency in quality while meeting production needs.
  • Manage time effectively, working with production to stay on schedule.
  • Keep the team and production staff informed about progress, challenges, and solutions.
