About The Position

The YMCA of Southern Nevada is looking for a 21st Century After School Site Coordinator to run our Power Scholars program at a local elementary school. In this role you will oversee the daily operations of the grant-funded afterschool program, including managing staff, implementing curriculum, and ensuring grant requirements are met. This is a full-time in-person position located in Las Vegas, NV. The hours for this position are from 9:30am - 6pm. During the first half of the day you will provide support to the school and work on administrative responsibilities. From 2pm - 6pm you will oversee the facilitation of the afterschool program. Staff trainings may occasionally be held on the weekends. Research shows that young people from underserved and low-income families often start school underprepared and fall behind their peers as a result, creating an opportunity gap. Through focused programming and support, the Y is committed to closing this gap. The Power Scholars program uses evidence based curriculum and licensed teachers to support students’ educational readiness, engagement and outcomes, and emotional and physical development while also providing afterschool childcare at no cost to students or families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2-3 years’ experience facilitating out-of-school time programming, preferably with underserved communities
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • American Red Cross CPR/ First Aid for Professional Rescuers Certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum age of 21

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of supervisory experience, preferred
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish, preferred
  • Prior experience with grant management, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement the 21st Century grant; Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance, academic progress, family engagement, and program activities.
  • Ensure data is consistently entered into required systems and submitted by established deadlines.
  • Meet all reporting deadlines and deliverables set forth by funders (e.g., 21st CCLC, CCDBG, or other grantors).
  • Adhere to program policies and procedures, ensuring all documentation, evaluations, and compliance standards are completed on schedule.
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies to maintain required student enrollment levels (minimum 48 students enrolled at all times or as directed by grant requirements).
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and community partners to attract and retain students that meet targeted demographics and participation benchmarks.
  • Use collected data to identify trends, monitor progress toward grant outcomes, and inform adjustments to program practices.
  • Participate in evaluation processes with external evaluators, funders, or district partners.
  • Provide timely updates to supervisors, school partners, and funders regarding enrollment, attendance, and progress toward grant goals.
  • Work closely with supervisors, school partners, parents, and teachers to develop strategies for student success.
  • Ensure students and staff have all materials and physical space needed for successful program implementation.
  • Directly supervise up to 10 part-time staff including hiring, training, scheduling, and monitoring performance.
  • Maintain a safe and secure site location with established emergency procedures.
  • Ensure proper implementation of the YMCA of Southern Nevada’s Youth Protection policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with children.
  • Attend required abuse risk management training.
  • Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
  • Follow employee and volunteer screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with youth.
  • Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse.
  • Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization’s progressive disciplinary procedures.
  • Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
  • Follows mandated reporting requirements.
  • Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization’s commitment to protect their consumers from abuse.
  • Report essential abuse risk management information to your supervisor, executive director, or human resources.
