About The Position

Oversees and manages the overall daily operations of the Katz Elementary 21st Century Community Learning Center. Responsible for staff management and development, programmatic impact, grant implementation, reporting, and community outreach. This position requires high energy, enthusiasm for YMCA’s mission, and flexibility. The YMCA operates 21st Century programming at various CCSD elementary schools across the Las Vegas Valley.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience working with children, required
  • 1 year of supervisory experience, required
  • Working with Children within 30 days of hire.
  • Current American Red Cross Certifications in CPR and First Aid within 30 days of hire
  • Current CCSD Badge or obtained within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, preferred
  • 2-3 years of experience facilitating out-of-school-time programming, preferably within underserved communities
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish, preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Prior experience with grant management, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe and secure site location with established emergency procedures
  • Ensures proper implementation of the YMCA of Southern Nevada’s Youth Protection policies and procedures
  • Manages and implements the Power Scholars program
  • Ensures compliance with 21st Century grant requirements
  • Maintains accurate and timely records of student attendance, academic progress, family engagement, and program activities
  • Adheres to program policies and procedures, ensuring all documentation, evaluations, and compliance standards are completed on schedule
  • Meets all reporting deadlines and deliverables set forth by funders (e.g., 21st CCLC or other grantors)
  • Develops and executes recruitment strategies to maintain required student enrollment levels as directed by grant requirements through collaboration with school staff, families, and community partners.
  • Attracts and retains students that meet targeted demographics and participation benchmarks.
  • Uses collected data to identify trends and inform adjustments to program practices.
  • Participates in evaluation processes with external evaluators, funders, or district partners.
  • Demonstrates strong communication with supervisors, school partners, parents, and staff to ensure student safety and success.
  • Ensures students and staff have all materials and physical space needed for successful program implementation.
  • Participates in regular trainings, meetings, and staff development
  • Directly supervises up to 10 part-time staff including hiring, training, scheduling, and monitoring performance.
  • Tracks supply and wage budgets to align with grant compliance.
  • Creates a strong presence and fosters a relationship with the staff and administration at assigned Elementary School.
  • Regularly communicates with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
  • Regularly communicates with school partners regarding program updates, offerings, and changes.
  • Participates in school and community events that correlate with the goals of the 21st Century Grant.
  • Regularly communicates progress and development of the program with the Afterschool Director.
  • Performs all other duties, as assigned.
  • Follow employee and volunteer screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with youth.
  • Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse.
  • Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization’s progressive disciplinary procedures.
  • Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
  • Follows mandated reporting requirements.
  • Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization’s commitment to protect their consumers from abuse.
  • Report essential abuse risk management information to your supervisor, executive director, or human resources.
