About The Position

Duquesne Light Company offers summer internships that provide a hands-on, meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. Duquesne Light’s internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines. Internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August). Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLH’s Hybrid Work Model. Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed their Sophomore year of studies. Candidates must be in good academic standing. Candidates must be willing to work the required schedule as defined in the job description. Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities. Aptitude for problem solving; strong communication skills.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Political Science, Public Policy or a related field.
Completed Sophomore year of studies.
Good academic standing.
Willing to work the required schedule.
Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities.
Aptitude for problem solving.
Strong communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and social media screen.

Responsibilities

Support both Government Affairs and Regulatory Law work.
Conduct policy research, drafting memos and summaries on pressing issues and legislation.
Participate in meetings with legislators and/or regulatory agency staff.
Support outreach to clean energy stakeholders and elected officials.
