About The Position

This internship offers an opportunity to be part of an innovative team supporting Westinghouse's mission to provide clean energy solutions. As a Safety/Industrial Hygiene intern, you will collaborate with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) leaders, work on project-based assignments, and gain valuable personal and professional experience. Your contributions will directly support maintaining a safe and healthful work environment and mitigating safety/industrial hygiene impacts, both tactically and strategically. This is a paid, full-time, remote position for the summer, May - August 2027. The intern will report to the Program Manager of Global Industrial Hygiene.

Requirements

Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in environmental, Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene or similar.
Completion of occupational safety, environmental or industrial hygiene coursework is required.
Some experience with safety regulatory requirements.
Reliable transportation for commuting to and from work locations (<50 miles).
Willingness to travel to other Westinghouse locations which may include international travel.

Responsibilities

Assist in the development and implementation of safety/industrial hygiene standards and programs.
Participate in EHS team meetings; regularly present on safety/industrial hygiene topics and project progress.
Conduct hazard assessments and make recommendations for mitigations.
Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for regulatory compliance.
Participate in potential exposure investigations to identify causes and corrective actions.
Work as part of an inspection or audit team.
Develop safety briefs, training materials and provide training to improve EHS knowledge.
Analyze data, suggest corrective actions, develop reports.
