About The Position

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company focused on building the Waymo Driver to improve access to mobility and help save lives lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can be applied to other vehicle platforms and product use cases. Waymo reports that its Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, with experience driving autonomously over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions of miles in simulation across more than 15 U.S. states. The AI Foundations team develops machine learning solutions for open problems in autonomous driving, with the goal of safely operating Waymo vehicles in dozens of cities and under all driving conditions. The team also initiates and fosters collaborations with other research teams in Alphabet. Current areas of focus include reinforcement learning, learning from demonstration, generative modeling, Bayesian inference, hierarchical learning, and robust evaluation. Waymo interns partner with industry leaders on impactful projects and have opportunities to apply their knowledge and expand their skill sets. This is a hybrid onsite internship. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the role is filled; candidates interested in multiple roles must apply to each individually. The expected hourly rate for this full-time position is $85 per hour. Interns are eligible to participate in the Company’s benefits programs, subject to eligibility requirements.
