About The Position

The Sophomore Career Exploration Internship gives undergraduate sophomores the opportunity to gain valuable work experience at a unique institution. Sophomore interns work in one specific business area or function for ten weeks, and have access to opportunities for collaboration with other students and employees from around the Bank. At the end of the program, students leave with strong skills, professional connections, and meaningful experiences that will support them in their long-term careers. The Group Shared Services (GSS) Function of the Research and Statistics Group (RSG) provides long-term value and high-quality service for internal and external customers and stakeholders by managing key processes, communicating business information, managing computing infrastructure, publishing and promoting Bank research, supporting the collection of data series, and optimizing the use of technology and business tools.

  • Organized and resourceful, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Demonstrated interest in product management, economics, public policy, mathematics or statistics, and a strong academic record.
  • Pursuing a degree or advanced certification in technology, management, economics, finance, or related field with a strong academic record.
  • Interested in problem solving through technology or process improvement.
  • Strong project management skills, including organization, planning, and execution, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • AI/GenAI Experience: Practical experience with prompt engineering, working with LLM-based tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT), and understanding of agentic AI workflows.
  • Technical Skills: Programming skills (Python preferred), experience with data manipulation, and comfort working with APIs or automation tools.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate business problems into technical solutions and think through scalable approaches.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of PDLC and Agile methodology is a plus.
  • Experience with workflow automation or RPA concepts.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI).
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS) or MLOps concepts.
  • Strong communication skills to support change management and user adoption efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation of assets for the publication and promotion of the work of the Research economists.
  • Help to develop engaging visuals that solve diverse design challenges in social media marketing, UI/UX design, and multi-channel visual storytelling for an educated audience with an interest in financial topics.
  • Utilize established methods and tools to perform moderately complex analyses of business issues.
  • Work alongside product team with clients and other resources to assess current capabilities, identify customer needs and assist in recommendation process improvements.
  • Support the team by gathering, analyzing, and compiling information from end-users and stakeholders to ensure processes, software and/or applications meet business requirements.
  • Participate in cross-functional team initiatives, process improvement and/or product support.
  • Work on projects that combine technical capabilities with curiosity about emerging AI technologies.
