2027 Internship - Space Algorithms and Technologies

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory•Laurel, MD

About The Position

The Space Algorithms and Technologies group seeks an intern pursuing a degree in a technical STEM field to help design, develop, and assess space technologies and algorithms. The intern will contribute to a variety of space-based projects, balancing independent work with collaboration. The group’s areas of expertise include photonics, signatures, advanced technology applications, orbital engagements, space control concept assessment, autonomous operations, and multidisciplinary optimization. The work may involve developing and testing space components for internal research and development, working with models and simulations of current, proposed, and future space systems, sensors, and constellations, and exploring algorithms to improve and assess space-system performance. The team uses programming and modeling skills and operates a photonics lab to develop sensor hardware for spacecraft payloads.
