About The Position

We are looking for a motivated student with a keen interest in Maintenance Engineering to join our team during the summer. This internship is designed to provide practical experience in the analysis, planning, and improvement of maintenance processes in an industrial environment. The intern will collaborate with equipment engineers, technicians, and operational staff on key activities to ensure the availability and efficiency of production equipment and systems. Program dates: June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026. The hourly compensation for this assignment is $15/hr. Please note that the final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by your employer of record (and not BMS). Factors influencing this decision may include the characteristics of the assignment, such as demonstrated experience, required skill, and the geographic location of the job. Compensation details are subject to change. This is a temporary, time-bound position intended for the duration of the internship or co-op program. Employment in this role does not imply or guarantee ongoing or permanent employment with BMS.

Requirements

  • Applicants must attend an accredited university in Puerto Rico or reside in Puerto Rico
  • Active student in their sixth semester (3 years) or above studying Mechanical, Electromechanical, Industrial, Maintenance, or related Engineering.
  • Knowledgeable about AI (Artificial Intelligence) basic tools, Excel and basic Project Management tools
  • Basic knowledge of industrial maintenance, electricity, or mechanics.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel and Office tools.
  • Proactivity, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team.
  • Presentations skills

Nice To Haves

  • knowledge of maintenance software (SAP PM, Maximo, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Analyze opportunities for improvement related to downtime of critical equipment in the manufacturing area.
  • Participate in Failure Mode Effect Alnalysis (FMEA)
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous process improvement
  • Use maintenance management tools (CMMS/ERP) to record activities.
  • Support improvements and updates to the Vorne system
  • Assist in updating technical documentation and maintenance plans
  • Collaborate on equipment optimization projects.
  • Collect field data and prepare technical reports.
  • Prepare and deliver presentation materials to effectively communicate project progress and outcomes to Management.
  • Understands spare parts needed for routine maintenance and ensures spare parts are available for run to failure equipment.
  • Manage along with stores the process for replacement of the obsolete parts and storage conditions.
  • Ensure program meets necessary compliance requirements. This may include providing evaluation of the Maintenance Program against impacting policies and regulations, support of compliance investigations, CAPA, and change control impact assessments and support of health authority or internal audits.

  • The summer hours program is for United States (U.S.) office-based employees due to the unique nature of their work. Employees in remote-by-design or lab-based roles may be eligible for summer hours, depending on the nature of their work, and should discuss eligibility with their manager. Employees covered under a collective bargaining agreement should consult that document to determine if they are eligible. Contractors, leased workers and other service providers are not eligible to participate in the program.
