About The Position

Roche is a recognized leader in the transformational field of gene therapy, working to advance new therapeutics. The Drug Product Development (DPD) team in Philadelphia is part of Roche’s Gene Therapy Technical Development function and is seeking a highly motivated Intern. As a member of our dedicated Process Development function, you will play a key role in formulation and method development. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute directly to the technical and analytical capabilities within DPD, supporting our gene therapy portfolio. This internship position is located in Philadelphia, PA, on-site.

Requirements

  • Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program).
  • Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).
  • Must have attained a Master's Degree.
  • Majors: Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related fields.
  • Practical experience with protein- and/or DNA-related laboratory techniques and safety.
  • Strong academic understanding of nucleic acid and protein sciences and biophysical characterization.

  • Prior experience with nucleic acid and/or protein sciences in an academic or industry setting.
  • Familiarity with gene therapy concepts, Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) biology, or bioprocessing concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on experience with AAV formulation and biophysical characterization techniques.
  • Work alongside Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design, execute, and analyze wet-lab experiments.
  • Document experimental protocols and results in laboratory notebooks, and present technical findings to the DPD team and collaborators.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives aimed at optimizing process development workflows.
