.2 Elementary Music (Fridays at 1 school)
About The Position
This position is for a .2 Elementary Music teacher who will work one day a week (Fridays) at one school, beginning September 2026 through the end of the school year. The primary function is to introduce students to foundational music concepts and foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts. The teacher will guide students in understanding and experiencing the fundamental elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, style, and cultural connections through active listening, singing, movement, performing on classroom instruments, and creating/improvising, all within a unified and aligned music curriculum. The role also involves preparing students for periodic performances.
Requirements
- Music degree from an accredited institution.
- Appropriate Massachusetts Teaching License.
- Functional vocal and keyboard and/or guitar skills for elementary accompaniment.
Nice To Haves
- Elementary school music teaching experience.
- Knowledge of audiation-based techniques.
Responsibilities
- Deliver general music instruction and evaluate student progress in a safe classroom environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align an audiation-based curriculum with state and district frameworks.
- Act as a school music resource, attend required department/faculty meetings, and build strong relationships with staff, students, and parents.
- Select and inventory music equipment and instructional materials, in partnership with other site music staff.
- Participate in professional development (workshops, coursework, seminars).
- Perform other administrative or instructional duties assigned by the principal.
