About The Position

Reports to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and the Director of Athletics. This position assists the Head Coach in all aspects of the women’s basketball program, including coaching, recruiting, scheduling, camps and clinics, practice and game management, and fundraising. The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach is responsible for adhering to RMAC rules and NCAA Division II bylaws. The position will represent MSU Denver positively and uphold the program’s philosophy and the department’s core values.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree
One year of experience coaching at the collegiate level
Knowledge of Division II rules

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Coach with team coaching and player development
Support all recruiting efforts
Assist with team scheduling logistics
Coordinate and support practice and competition operations
Oversee and support student-athlete development and conduct
Lead all aspects of recruiting, including developing and executing recruiting strategies
Manage recruiting documentation, including official/unofficial visits, NCAA Eligibility Center requirements, and maintenance of the recruiting database
Oversee academic progress, including grade checks, class attendance, study hall coordination, and tutor monitoring
Serve as liaison with Admissions, The Regency, and the NCAA Eligibility Center to support freshman and transfer student-athlete onboarding
Oversee planning and execution of the Women’s Basketball Fall League
Provide position-specific training (posts, forwards, or guards), including individual and film sessions
Scout approximately half of regular season opponents and prepare game film and materials for staff and players
Recruit, organize, and coach the practice player scout team
Perform other duties as assigned
