2027 1L IP Summer Associate
About The Position
Pirkey Barber is seeking 1L J.D. students in the Class of 2029 for its six-week 2027 Summer Associate program, held in the second half of the summer in Austin, Texas. Summer Associates are expected to work in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The firm focuses on trademark, trade dress, copyright, and unfair competition law and does not handle patents. Its work includes intellectual property litigation, USPTO proceedings, domain name disputes, trademark policing, clearance and prosecution, portfolio management, trade dress, advertising counseling, false advertising litigation, social media and online branding matters, and anti-counterfeiting enforcement. Compensation is expected to be $3,115.26 per week. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Candidates who will now or in the future require a U.S. visa from the firm are not eligible.
Requirements
- Must be a J.D. student in the Class of 2029.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to the highest quality of client service.
- Must not now or in the future require a U.S. visa from the firm, such as H-1B, TN-1, TN-2, or E-3.
Nice To Haves
- Law journal experience is strongly preferred.
- GPA in the top quarter of the class is strongly preferred.
- A personal connection to Austin or Texas may be included in the cover letter.
- A science background is not required.
