About The Position

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) is seeking a 12-Month RN Instructor to join their faculty. This position is responsible to the Dean of STEM & Nursing and the RN Program Director. The role involves planning and conducting classes, maintaining office hours, serving as a student advisor, and staying current in nursing knowledge through professional development. The instructor will also be responsible for maintaining student records, creating syllabi, assisting in curriculum development, and participating in college functions and committees. This is a Faculty - Non-Tenure, Regular, Day Shift position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Unencumbered Arkansas Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to students and peers
  • Skilled at organizing work and managing time effectively to best serve the department
  • Able to work effectively with people of various cultural backgrounds
  • Able to deliver quality customer service to a diverse student population
  • Able to maintain a professional demeanor at all times
  • Able to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
  • Proficient in the use of computers and basic computer applications
  • Ability to lift and/or move 30 pounds or more
  • Commitment to work cooperatively with all campus personnel to fulfill the Mission of UACCM
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan for and conduct classes as assigned by the RN Program Director, meeting each class for the full duration of each scheduled class period.
  • Maintain office hours to assure availability to students, with scheduled time on campus totaling a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Serve as advisor for assigned students, meeting with advisees to determine class schedules, plan course of study, and refer students to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain skills and knowledge within the area of nursing and attend and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain sufficient student records to support grades assigned and submit grades in a timely manner.
  • Complete required reports, including the Departmental Assessment Report and Faculty Self-Evaluation, within the prescribed time frame.
  • Create and maintain a syllabus for each course taught, submit for Dean’s approval, and report revisions.
  • Assist in the development of the departmental and review, select, and recommend textbooks and/or other materials needed for each course taught.
  • Assist in the development of the RN Practicum schedules and provide leadership for the clinical experience as requested.
  • Attend college functions as requested by administrative officers.
  • Assist the Program Director with State Board of Nursing Program Reviews as requested.
  • Serve on standing and/or ad hoc committees as assigned by administrative officers.
  • Serve as advisor for student organizations within the department (if applicable).
  • Actively cooperate with the Advisory Committee for his or her program (if applicable) and incorporate feedback as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate consistent professionalism with students and peers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
