About The Position

First Choice Services is a 501c3 non-profit organization serving multiple states with programs that promote wellbeing and facilitate access to behavioral health and social services. The Helpline Specialist role assists individuals seeking substance use and/or alcohol use treatment resources in Pennsylvania through the PA Get Help Now program. Specialists answer calls, chats, and texts from individuals in emotional crisis, many seeking substance use disorder and/or behavioral health treatment, and complete referrals efficiently and empathetically.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in human services required
• Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen (post-offer)
• Ability to work shift assigned
• Reliable transportation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Continuous computer work, so candidates must have some computer and typing skills

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls, chats or texts
• Input call/chat/text reports into appropriate systems
• Document the visitor’s interactions into the appropriate systems
• Conduct follow-up calls when appropriate
