About The Position

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI), a division of FullBloom, provides education services for K–12 students who need additional support to succeed in traditional school settings. SESI partners with school districts to operate in-district classrooms and standalone schools serving students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. The 1:1 Aide works with an assigned student, supporting goals in the student’s individualized education plan (IEP) through customized behavior support, accommodations, and life-skills instruction. The aide is part of a multidisciplinary team that provides holistic guidance and support.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Ability to run short distances and move swiftly in response to student needs, including bending, kneeling, and crouching.
• Ability to lift and assist students with mobility challenges, often handling up to 50 pounds or more.
• Ability to perform fine motor tasks, such as helping students write, manipulate small objects, or use adaptive devices.
• Ability to operate a computer or tablet for up to 8 hours daily.
• Capacity to notice and respond to students’ non-verbal cues.
• Capacity to remain calm and composed in physically and emotionally demanding situations to ensure student safety and well-being.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in an educational setting implementing behavioral interventions for students with intensive behavioral needs.

Responsibilities

• Work with students from diverse developmental, cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Work one-on-one with an assigned student to meet IEP goals and provide accommodations and modifications as needed.
• Assist in developing and modifying behavior support plans.
• Implement behavior support plans and record and track behavior, progress toward goals, and incident data.
• Use behavior support and intervention strategies.
• Use de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and physical restraint when necessary to maintain student and staff safety.
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages appropriate social and behavioral skill development.
• Supervise and monitor students at all times, including while moving between school locations.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure consistent implementation of behavior support plans.
• Provide personal care support based on the student’s needs.
• Communicate effectively with parents.
