Requirements

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or an occupational diploma paired with successful completion of the Project SEARCH program or meeting one of the listed preferences.
• BLS completed before going to the unit or department and maintained thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and/or indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Function as a member of the surgical team.
• Prepare patients for procedures.
• Transport and position patients.
• Hold extremities during preparation.
• Turn over and clean rooms.
• Establish and maintain a sterile field.
• Scrub into cases to hold retractors and/or cameras.
• Restock supplies and manage inventory.
• Provide care appropriate to the ages of patients served in the assigned unit.
• Recognize signs and symptoms that require further evaluation by a licensed nurse.
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members and adapt to change.
• Assist nurses with the admission process.
• Adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
• Transport patients to receiving departments.
