The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As a Zoo Quality Lead you are responsible for maintaining the zoo grounds, buildings, and related areas. Work is performed under the immediate direction of the Zoo Quality Manager and Assistant Manager but may be performed under general supervision once learned. You will have constant direct guest contact and must always exhibit excellent guest service. As a Zoo Quality Lead, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people in San Antonio. Here, you will make an impact by: Assist with ZQ Leadership of Zoo cleaning operations. Ability to safely operate leaf blowers, power sweepers, pressure washers, steam cleaners, walk behind vacuums and floor buffers (stripping, waxing, buffing) Ability to drive Zoo Quality cart to pick up and drop off supplies (with valid driver’s license) Assist and ensure the cleaning of buildings and service lavatories, pressure wash, mop floors, dust surfaces, clean gutters clean windows, clean trash cans on zoo grounds. Hand sweep interior and exterior area of buildings and remove trash and debris from public areas. Clean and service lavatory areas (public restrooms) and advise the Department Manager on plumbing or other problems that may occur. Use pressure washers and pressure washer schedule to cleanse certain areas on zoo grounds and related areas. Assist with fulfillment of all ZQ Prospectus responsibilities; including but not limited to: Board Events, VIP Tours, after-hour events, etc. Check lavatories and ensure they are stocked with essential supplies (paper towels, toilet paper, soap, etc.) hourly, daily, etc. Ensure Zoo Quality team follows through with their daily duties. Check lavatories and buildings for trash and spot clean. Assist and ensure that ZQ team pick up and throw away debris throughout zoo grounds, buildings, and related areas. Assist and ensure the removal of gum off the asphalt and graffiti in public areas to include lavatories. Report any holes in asphalt or walkways and any other safety hazards. Report and clean debris from the tops of buildings and gutters. Follow and ensure all Zoo Quality Standard Operating Procedures and rules as well as San Antonio Zoo policies and procedures. Set up and tear down tables, chairs, and restrooms for meetings. Become knowledgeable of San Antonio Zoo promotions and general information. Remove trash and debris from public areas. Ability to work a fast paced environment Upholds all company policies as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures, Team Member Handbook, Safety Handbook, and Code of Business Conduct. Consistently exhibit an attitude of service inside and outside of the zoo, showing hospitality to all. Requirements

  • Able to understand, foresee, and apply necessary safety precautions applicable to the Zoo environment.
  • Ability to deal effectively and politely with people.
  • Knowledge of the hand tools and simple equipment used in performing assigned jobs.
  • Ability to develop skill in the operation of power equipment used in performing assigned jobs.
  • Sufficient physical strength, coordination and agility to start, stop, and efficiently operate gasoline engine power sweepers.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Able to read, write and understand English.
  • Prior experience with floor buffing and cleaning chemicals.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older with a clean driving record for vehicle operation.
  • Valid Texas driver's license or obtain within 3 months of employment.
  • Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment National Sex Offender Search, Criminal Background Check, and Drug Screen.
  • Must be available day, nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional special after-hour assignments.

Responsibilities
