About The Position

Supervise and perform general aesthetic and preventive maintenance, repairs, and renovations within specific guidelines. Responsible for the completion of tasks and projects related to the systematic inspection, detection, and correction of developing failures of equipment or facilities, either before they occur or before they develop into major defects. Assist the manager in assessing any maintenance requirements, analyzing the scope of work, making estimates, scheduling employees, and buying materials. Oversight of safety instruction, inspection of tools and equipment, and quality control of completed work. Ensure that work requests are accurately translated into service requests and that work is appropriately assessed, allocated, and completed. Due to communication expectations of the position, the incumbent will be required to maintain a personal cell phone and will be required to be continually available both during and after normal working hours. The employee in this position may be required to work overtime after 4 pm and/or during non-business hours, including evenings, weekends, & when the University is closed, if management deems it necessary to complete projects and/or in emergencies. The ability to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management, regardless of weather, will be required; therefore, deeming you as essential personnel.

Requirements

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Six years of prior successful work experience, with five of those years of experience working in a field specific to the position.
  • OR Two years of post-secondary education in a related field with four years of prior successful work experience.
  • Must work safely, adhere to all safety requirements, and promote a safe work environment.
  • Valid driver's license (must have before hire and maintain after hire).
  • Maintain a personal cell phone and be continually available both during and after normal working hours.
  • Highly motivated team player with the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships.

  • Basic computer skills, including proficient use of Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, etc, for departmental record keeping.

  • Considerable knowledge of methods, standards, and equipment used in a maintenance facility.
  • Ability to estimate costs and assess bids.
  • Effective and accurate communication.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with contractors and departmental representatives.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to become proficient in the use of “AiM” Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology.
  • Regularly stand, lift, bend, stoop, lift above the shoulders, and carry 50 lbs or more.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves, safety glasses, etc.).
