About The Position

The Zone Mechanic will have a strong focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment on all systems. Individuals are expected to demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area (electrical, HVAC, piping/plumbing, central utility plant operations) and be multi-skilled in others in order to successfully complete daily/weekly work assignments. The Zone Mechanic assists and serves as back-up to other Facilities employees.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three to five years general commercial maintenance experience working in at least one relevant trade in a commercial, industrial, facilities operations, or a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge and applicable skills in troubleshooting, repair and maintenance in commercial electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, boilers, or HVAC systems.
  • Residential-only experience is insufficient for this position.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good problem solving skills, ability to prioritize work, and be able to work independently.
  • General computer knowledge; preferably with Microsoft Windows.
  • Ability to operate and use a broad spectrum of tools and equipment skillfully and safely.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Journeyman, Apprentice, or in a commercial building-specific trade (E.g. HVAC, plumbing, electrical, BAS, etc.), or already working towards a certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial building automation systems (BAS) preferred.
  • Knowledge of standard practices and procedures of construction trades such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting and mechanical systems.
  • Read and comprehend plans and blueprints preferred.
