Requirements

A minimum of a four-year degree in Wildlife Management or a closely related field.
Minimum of two years professional experience in natural resource management or enforcement.
Possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.
Completion of a post-offer medical/physical examination.
Completion of the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Nice To Haves

Extensive experience in wildlife management, law enforcement, administration and leadership.
Valid AZ POST peace officer certification.

Responsibilities

Serves as a Regional Administrator with responsibility and authority to assign, monitor, plan, direct, organize and oversee complex regional work programs, budget, personnel, equipment, supplies, regional office/facility and other real property in wildlife law enforcement, wildlife management, fisheries management, habitat protection, administration, and public information and education programs and public recreational access programs.
Mediate, negotiate and resolve conflicts relating to natural resource management issues and represent the Commission/Department positions through written and oral communication with Congressional, Legislative, Executive, Federal, State, County and municipal leaders and the general public.
Supervise and evaluate the work performance of professional program managers, office managers and subordinate field supervisors.
Coordinate all Department programs with local, state, county, municipal, private and subordinate field supervisors.
Consult with other Field Operations supervisors to advise the Assistant Director of Field Operations of required changes in policy, procedures and program.
Oversee cash receipts for regional sales and checkbook.
Report on sales to the state office.
Verify and sign for all cash reports.
Assist with law enforcement patrols to cover surge periods of law enforcement, wildlife, watercraft and OHV needs.
This position serves as the Department's primary liaison and representative for all Department matters affecting a geographic area of the state involving multiple ownership and managerial jurisdictions; i.e., Federal, tribal, state, county, municipal and private.
Under general direction of the Assistant Director, responsible for administering a complex regional program involving directing the planning, budgeting, integration of multiple projects, organizing, and implementing a comprehensive regional program to achieve multiple objectives in the following areas: Administration, Customer Service and business services, Wildlife Management, Information/Education, Watercraft, Enforcement/Protection, Public Access.
Supervise regional professional staff personnel who function as staff to this position and as first level supervisors over subordinate program personnel.
Responsible for the supervision of Field Supervisors who supervise day-to-day activities of subordinates who carry out tasks associated with a variety of program objectives, heavily weighted towards law enforcement.
Provides leadership and oversight to ensure the regional field force of Wildlife Managers and Law Enforcement Specialists are effective in implementing the Department mission.
In support of statewide programs on a regional basis, oversees the plans, organization, implementation, direction and budgets for current and long-range management projects and personnel aimed at conservation of the state's game, nongame, threatened and endangered species of fish and wildlife resources and related habitats.
This includes oversight of management and maintenance of resources to obtain maximum desirable populations, oversight of developing projects for protection of these resources by preparing season dates, bag limits, special seasons, closures, animal control and improvement projects.
Collaborate with statewide project leads during the appropriate operational planning cycle to establish operational goals and objectives.
Direct activities to resolve complaints concerning animal depredations and reviews reports to determine validity of damage complaints and oversees corrective action.
Meets with other agencies and organizations to resolve conflicts relating to resource management issues.
Serves as the Department representative on advisory boards and councils as assigned.
Maintains inventory of public access needs.
Coordinate with ASLD, BLM, USFS and other agencies to gain additional public access to publicly held lands.
Serve as a member of the Department Leadership Team and the FOD Staff leadership team, a standing member of the Department's Land Council, and may lead or contribute to the development of procedures, interpretation, and enforcement of Department policies.
Responsible for safe operation and security of regional headquarters, real property, and equipment as well as other Department property; to include ensuring implementation of the designated steward program for Commission owned or managed properties; maintain the responsibility to conduct annual property inspections using the Department standardized criteria, identify and document hazards and liability and other issues associated with the property, and develop and implement appropriate mitigation actions (as necessary) working with other branch chiefs, regional managers, and the Department's Risk Management and Engineering Sections as needed.
Maintain inspection and project records as appropriate, complete all required property steward training.
On a regional level, responsible for implementing a proactive outreach, information and education effort.
Oversees the information and education activities which explain, interpret and publicize the wildlife laws and regulations and the policies and programs of the Department.
This also includes the use of volunteer groups such as the Hunter Education Instructors and special user groups.
Serves as the Department spokesperson to the media and in one-on-one discussions with Congressional, Legislative and other key people regarding politically sensitive or critical issues.
Oversees the registration of watercraft and enforcement of A.R.S. Title 5 on the waterways of the Region.
Interfaces with other enforcement agencies providing watercraft enforcement and safety programs.
Involved in joint planning of access and other public use facilities on public lands.
Oversees the enforcement of all A.R.S. Title 5 & 17 laws and Commission Rules within the regional area.
Monitors that enforcement officers are properly trained and conduct operations within the regional area.

May coordinate enforcement activities with federal, state, county and local jurisdictions involving environmental and other areas that may affect the Department.
Performs commissioned peace officer supervision and enforcement activities.
Implements OHV law enforcement efforts within Department resources and objectives.
Oversees special licenses for guides, taxidermists, wildlife rehabilitators, falconers, field trials and game farms.
Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
