About The Position

SBCS (formerly South Bay Community Services) is seeking a Youth Support Partner (YSP) for its Our Safe Place program. This is a regular, full-time position located at the Trolley Trestle. The YSP will provide comprehensive trauma-informed services, outreach, education, mentoring, positive youth development activities, initial risk assessments, and linkages to mental health support and other services for LGBTQ+ youth. The role involves case management, supportive/rehabilitative services, ensuring safety and inclusivity, community outreach and training, assertive outreach within the LGBTQ+ community, screening youth/families, providing outreach while youth wait for counseling, and offering services in-home, at the Drop-in Center, and in the community as needed. The YSP will also facilitate support groups, welcome and support volunteers, participate in treatment meetings and service planning, attend agency training, maintain documentation, uphold confidentiality, and maintain a welcoming office environment. A working knowledge of MIS systems and equipment is required, and participation in group supervision is expected. The position reports to the Program Coordinator.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two years of supervised experience with children and adolescents including the documentation of services following a standard protocol.
  • Must be committed to cultural awareness.
  • Must be willing to develop or possess working knowledge of trauma-informed care and dual diagnosis treatment.
  • Must be available to respond to crisis and emergencies as needed.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
  • Candidate should hold a valid driver’s license, be insurable, bondable and have a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Ability to demonstrate cultural responsiveness when working with clients who are in crisis.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a current valid California driver’s license and valid auto insurance policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Lived experience identifying with LGBTQ+ and have received behavioral health services.
  • Experience working with LGBTQ+ youth and young adults.
  • Experience working in trauma-informed and dual diagnosis programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive trauma-informed services, outreach and education, mentoring, positive youth development activities, initial risk assessments, and linkages with area mental health support and services for LGBTQ+ youth.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate an integrated treatment approach for LGBTQ+ youth and families with co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders with quality trauma informed youth programs.
  • Provide case management and supportive/rehabilitative services to enrolled youth/family.
  • Ensure that standards relating to safety and inclusivity are maintained.
  • Assist with Community outreach and trainings on LGBTQ+ topics.
  • Provide assertive outreach services within the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Screen youth/families as appropriate for the clinic.
  • Provide outreach services to youth while waiting for counseling services.
  • Provide services in-home, Drop-in Center, and in the community as needed.
  • Provide mentoring to youth.
  • Facilitate support groups centered around LBGTQ+ issues and awareness.
  • Welcome and support volunteers in the organization and assist them in accomplishing their services whenever applicable.
  • Participate in treatment meetings and service planning.
  • Attend all agency required agency training and meetings.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting on all youth/families in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy standards of service partner protected health information and other applicable information and material.
  • Maintain warm, welcoming office grounds and facilities.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of MIS systems and equipment.
  • Participate in group supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
