The Youth Support Partner Supervisor is an experienced social services worker who ensures that communications with arrested youth and their families is developmentally appropriate, trauma informed, and will utilize screening and assessment tools to identify youth who are eligible to be diverted out of the justice system. The Youth Support Partner Supervisor will supervise up to five Youth Support Partners, who are peer specialists with direct experience in the juvenile justice system as youth or guardians. The Youth Support Partner Supervisor and Youth Support Partners will serve as primary points of contact for arrested youth and families during the arrest and booking process and will assist families in accessing community-based services and supports. Youth Support Partner Supervisors and Partners will be embedded in a Philadelphia Police Division that holds arrested youth in custody during the initial arrest and booking process. The YSPS and YSP will work closely with juvenile probation officers to ensure that intake officers have complete information to make initial decisions about whether a child is held in detention or released to family after arrest and will assist families with transportation when required. The Youth Support Partner Supervisor will ensure that youth and family confidentiality is maintained, and that information received during screenings is recorded accurately.
