About The Position

The Youth Support Counselor provides family-centered mental health counseling, support, crisis intervention, and case management to youth and their families. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the counselor delivers trauma-informed, culturally responsive services in the community at times and locations convenient for each family. Services may take place in client homes, schools, and other community locations, with documentation completed remotely as appropriate. San Luis Obispo Wraparound supports youth and families experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges at home. Its strengths-based, family-driven, flexible, and creative approach helps families develop skills and supports to prevent or reduce the possibility of out-of-home placement. A family-based team addresses the needs of the entire family and may include family members, Seneca therapists, youth counselors, parent partners, facilitators, and other important community members. Seneca Family of Agencies provides mental health, community-based, and educational services, with a commitment to traditionally marginalized communities and to building a diverse staff. Its programs engage in conversations and training on diversity, equity, and inclusion to advance equity and justice for the youth and families served. The position is full-time, Sunday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and hybrid: counselors provide in-person services and complete documentation remotely. Voluntary on-call shifts are available, and emergency on-call response is provided as scheduled.
