About The Position
Under the supervision and guidance of the Athletic Coordinator, the Youth Basketball Referee is responsible for officiating youth basketball games for Boys & Girls Clubs Sonoma – Marin.
Requirements
- Familiarity with the rules of basketball.
- Ability to run for extended amounts of time.
- Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents.
- Physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
- Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills.
- Ability to jog, run, stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Ability to climb, push, and pull.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Officiate youth basketball games.
- Communicate with Coaches to get games started promptly.
- Communicate schedule conflicts with supervisor.
- Remain calm in a stressful competitive atmosphere.
- Display strong “on court” presence.
- Be confident in verbal and hand gesture calls.
