Youth Sports Coach After-School
About The Position
Brains & Motion Education (BAM!) provides year-round enrichment programs in STEM, Arts, and Sports at local schools and communities. Its on-campus programs offer students a safe, engaging environment to learn, stay active, and develop their interests. BAM! reports having inspired more than 100,000 students across over 1,000 schools. The After-School Sports Coach guides elementary and middle school students through the fundamentals of soccer, flag football, and basketball. The coach fosters teamwork, movement, discipline, confidence, and athletic skills in a supportive, high-energy environment, and implements BAM! Sports curricula for students from beginner through intermediate skill levels.
Requirements
- One to two years of personal or instructional experience in at least one core sport: soccer, flag football, or basketball, and a strong passion for teaching youth.
- At least two years of college coursework (48 semester units), an associate’s degree or higher, or a passing score on a local assessment meeting ESSA requirements.
- Strong classroom and behavior management skills suitable for K–8 students.
- Reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s License or State ID.
- Ability to pass a standard background check.
- Ability to demonstrate athletic movements and occasionally lift or carry equipment weighing 20–50 lbs.
- Consistent availability during required program hours.
Nice To Haves
- Prior coaching, teaching, or camp counselor experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead engaging, high-energy soccer, flag football, and basketball sessions that encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and active participation.
- Teach fundamental sports skills, including footwork, dribbling, passing, shooting, and play execution, adapting instruction to students' skill levels.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and positive environment for K–8 students during after-school hours.
- Implement structured BAM! Sports curricula and ensure sessions are age-appropriate, inclusive, and fun.
