About The Position

The Youth Specialist provides 24/7 supervision of clients, maintains program structure and daily schedules, and implements group and individual treatment plans using the Missouri approach. The role supports residents’ health, safety, clothing, hygiene, and meals, provides immediate therapeutic crisis intervention, and contributes to a safe, orderly, caring, and therapeutic environment. The Youth Specialist accompanies youth to school, appointments, and group activities, and appropriately addresses negative behaviors. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Possess at least a High School Diploma.
• Have previous group-work experience involving direct care and interaction with children.
• Successfully complete Safety Crisis Management (SCM) training, including a written test and demonstration of competency in physical restraints as specified by the program and regulatory body.
• Successfully complete all required SCM refreshers to maintain continued employment.
• Be able to work varying hours as required.
• Hold a valid driver’s license from New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut.
• Provide excellent references.

Nice To Haves

• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 “eyes on” client supervision, ensure compliance with the daily schedule, and maintain program structure.
• Implement group and individual treatment plans using the Missouri approach.
• Develop and model effective relationships and behaviors with youth, co-workers, and the treatment team.
• Ensure residents receive quality care relating to health, safety, clothing, hygiene, and meals.
• Provide immediate therapeutic crisis intervention.
• Support a safe, orderly, caring, and therapeutic environment in line with the program’s mission.
• Accompany youth to school, appointments, and group activities.
• Appropriately confront negative behaviors when they occur.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
