About The Position

Acac is now hiring for a Bus Driver! This position involves safely transporting children to/from their local schools to acac clubs and related events!

Requirements

  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, crawl and climb to inspect on and under a bus
  • Candidates shall not have any impairment of the use of a foot, leg, hand, finger, or an arm and no structural defects or limitation likely to interfere with the ability to control and safely operate a bus
  • Must be able to work professionally and calmly in an environment which may have heightened noise and/or stress
  • Must have ability and willingness to work varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Must hold a current CDL license with Air Break and Passenger endorsements
  • Must be able to provide necessary documentation as it relates to US-DOT regulations (driving records, medical certification, etc.)
  • Must be willing to participate in random drug/alcohol testing
  • Must be willing to participate and successfully pass required background checks
  • Must have excellent communication skills to work positively with children of different ages
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Read, sign, and abide by the policies included in the Team Member Handbook

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience driving a school bus highly preferred
  • Prior experience with youth programming and/or summer camp programs highly desired

Responsibilities

  • Follow and enforce safety rules as children board and exit buses
  • Promote the safety and security of children at all times
  • Enforce all policies and communicate using a style that builds relationships and promotes teamwork
  • Monitor children during trips and ensure continued adherence to safety rules; be prepared to communicate and/or enforce safety rules as needed
  • Monitor the condition of the vehicle’s tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel before each trip; report any potential defects or needs to supervisor
  • Perform routine operator care to include: sweeping the interior, checking equipment and reporting defects, presenting buses for regularly scheduled maintenance
  • Report accidents immediately to the supervisor
  • Participate in random drug/alcohol testing
  • Maintain current and valid CDL documentation as well as documentation as it relates to US-DOT regulations
  • Club cleanliness is an all-team responsibility; assist whenever necessary in any area of the club to keep the club neat and clean
  • Assist with Service Days
  • Assist with acac programs, special events, or activities outside your department
  • Promptly return messages
  • Exhibit a positive attitude at all times
  • Deliver five-star service to members and guests with friendliness, direct eye contact, and a pleasant demeanor at all times
