About The Position

The Quincy Kroc Center is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and caring Youth Programs Assistant to support its after school programs, day camps, and youth enrichment activities. This role involves planning and implementing engaging programs, supporting youth staff, communicating with parents, maintaining program records, and ensuring the safety and well-being of children. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children in recreational, educational, childcare, after school, or camp setting.
  • Basic knowledge of child development and behavior management techniques.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when working with children and families.
  • Ability to administer medications following training and established protocols.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical activities including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, stretching, and climbing.
  • Pass The Salvation Army background check and Motor Vehicle Record review.
  • Meet all DOT Non-CDL driver requirements associated with this position, including: Must be at least 21 years of age, Must possess a clean driving record and meet Salvation Army driving standards, Must obtain and maintain DOT medical certification within 90 days of hire, Missouri residents must possess a valid Class E driver's license.
  • Candidates who do not meet the DOT Non-CDL driver qualifications will not be considered for employment.

  • Some college coursework in education, recreation, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, preparing, and implementing youth programs, after school activities, and day camps.
  • Organize program supplies, materials, and activity spaces.
  • Safely transport youth participants, equipment, and supplies as needed using Salvation Army vehicles while complying with all DOT and organizational driving requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to youth program staff and volunteers.
  • Help create and distribute program schedules, materials, and communications.
  • Serve as a secondary point of contact for parents and guardians regarding participant behavior and program updates.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, registrations, incident reports, and program documentation.
  • Assist with participant enrollment, recordkeeping, and database management.
  • Administer medications when necessary in accordance with established procedures and training.
  • Support a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, families, staff, and community members.
