About The Position

This is a volunteer opportunity to support a weekly play group for toddlers and preschoolers and enrichment programs for elementary, middle, and high school aged youth. Volunteers will help create a safe, welcoming, and enriching environment for the children while their parents attend ESL classes on Monday evenings. The role is ideal for individuals who believe play can change lives, enjoy connecting with young people, and want to help them grow into confident individuals. Volunteers will bring positive energy and jump into a lively, rewarding environment, directly supporting migrant and refugee families. By offering educational support and enrichment, volunteers help children grow socially, emotionally, and academically, while giving parents the opportunity to learn English. The program is located at the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester, 65 Boys & Girls Club Way, Worcester.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old
CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and national background check will be conducted
Background check includes a review of the sex offender registry and verification of social security number
Process includes an interview, reference checks and 2 hours of online training

Responsibilities

Assist with arts, STEM, recreational activities and games, and other age-appropriate programming
Foster curiosity and teamwork
Support youth in developing interpersonal skills and confidence
Provide guidance, encouragement, and supervision during structured activities
Help maintain a positive, inclusive atmosphere for all participants
Work collaboratively with staff and other volunteers
Be comfortable working with children and youth from diverse cultural backgrounds
Be reliable, patient, and committed to a regular schedule
