About The Position

Kentucky River Community Care is seeking a Youth Peer Support Specialist for their Letcher County Sapling Center. This is a Regular Full-Time position. The ideal candidate must be between 18 and 35 years of age and have received or be currently receiving services related to a youth's emotional, social, behavioral, or substance use disability from a child-serving agency or a state-funded service.

Requirements

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age but no older than thirty-five (35).
• Receiving or have received at least one (1) child serving agency or a state funded service that is related to youth's emotional, social, behavioral, or substance use disability.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• KFLA training.
• Demonstrate leadership and advocacy in the field of behavioral health.

Responsibilities

• Use relevant personal stories to teach through experience.
• Serve as a role model for clients.
• Encourage client voice and choice during development and implementation of treatment planning.
• Support clients while receiving mental health services.
• Empower clients to be self-advocates.
• Help clients enhance relationships with community partners.
