About The Position

The Youth Peer Advocate (YPA) will be between ages 16-24 with lived experience in the Stamford community. They will be bilingual to account for the large Spanish-speaking youth population in Stamford. Their presence as a youth community leader will be integral to PFS buy-in, acting as a bridge between the PFS team and a youth population that may have preconceived notions about prevention programs and the effects (or lack thereof) of youth alcohol use.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of prevention
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency with social media
• Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Nice To Haves

• Lived experience in the Stamford community
• Aged between 16-24

Responsibilities

• Participate and represent their LPC on the monthly GPP Youth Advisory Board meetings and at least one sub-committee
• Develop collaborative partnerships with school and community groups
• Work directly with the Stamford coalition in all steps of the SPF
• Present data to community boards and groups
• Create a media campaign for parents and peers
• Recruit other youth to participate
• Information Campaigns within school-settings
• Attend conferences on prevention
• Attend a training on Strategic Prevention Framework
